Welcome to Gabriele Ziethen's website 

Dr. phil. Gabriele Ziethen M.A.German ancient historian, born 1964 in Bad Kreuznach (Germany) – studied Ancient History, Pre- and Proto-History and Classical Archaeology at Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz, and Albert-Ludwigs University, Freiburg i. Breisgau.  She received grade of Magister artium in 1990, PhD with magna cum laude in 1991 in Mainz. She was employed at Department of Archaeological Heritage Rheinland-Pfalz/Mainz (Germany) and at several German Universities. In 2001 she founded her academic program AKSUM– Akademische Kurse, Seminare und Mitarbeiterberatung (GbR). She participated in  a German co-operation unit with Jinan University/China. She teached as as a visiting professor at Cairo University/Egypt. She is expert-referee at Supreme Council of Universities, Cairo/Egypt and peer-reviewer for academic journal "Kairoer Germanistische Studien". After she was a visiting professor since 2010 at Pomor State University, named after M. V. Lomonosov, in Arkhangelsk/Russia she became in 2012 visiting professor and author at Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M. V. Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) lecturing at  Institute of History of Law and at Chair of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication. She was guest lecturer at al-Azhar University (Cairo/Egypt).

 

On occasion of  several special researches the following countries have been visited (partly on motorcycle) in order to complete detailed studies by photo materials focused  to the special requirement of academic lecture programs and seminars:  Bulgaria, Great Britain, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Finland, France, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Czechia, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey.

  

She is author of about one hundred publications at several national and international institutions, including Museum Peter the Great (Kunstkamera), Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg, Russia), Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Alexandria, Egypt), University Lublin (Poland), Nordico-Museum der Stadt (Linz, Austria), Aegean University (Rhodes). Visiting stay at University of Vienna, German Archaeological Institute (Rome), Institute of Ecological Problems of the North (Ural Department, Russian Academy of Sciences).

 

Hobbies: photography, ethnic music, modern literature, sports

Social activities: mentoring in German and English language education, writing and reading for young people from migrant families
